A magnet and people illustrating how to attract relevant enquiries.

More leads help when they fit your offer and you have capacity to follow up. If you already receive many unsuitable requests, better qualification is a more precise goal than a higher count.

Start by finding where the process stalls. These eight actions address different problems and should be prioritised based on observations from your own business.

1. Make the offer specific

Explain what you deliver, for whom and where. State what determines whether a project fits. A precise service page can save both the customer and recipient an unnecessary conversation.

2. Find searches that express a need

Investigate what relevant customers search for before getting in touch. Use this in service pages and articles. Search Console can show which queries and pages generate impressions and clicks from Google.

Do not prioritise a topic merely because it brings traffic. Look for a connection to the offer and customer decision.

3. Use ads for a specific offer

Choose the audience, budget and desired action before the campaign starts. Send people from the ad to a page that addresses the same need. The Google Ads guide shows how to track quality throughout the journey.

4. Address uncertainty before contact

Write about the process, options, requirements and factors affecting price. Show real work where relevant. A customer who understands what you do and how you work can send a better enquiry.

Do not replace evidence with generic claims of being the best or cheapest. Explain the choices that matter to the customer.

5. Offer useful content when the customer needs more time

A guide, checklist or demonstration may suit someone before contact feels natural. Consider making the content openly accessible. A download should not automatically be interpreted as consent to sales contact or newsletters.

6. Make contact easy and useful for qualification

Ask for information that helps the recipient understand the need. Check phone links and forms on mobile. Too many fields can create unnecessary work; too few can make a useful response difficult.

Use a confirmation that explains the next step. A click on Submit is not enough: the information must actually arrive.

7. Follow up every relevant enquiry

Give the request an owner and status. Clarify who covers absences. Record what remains and what the customer is waiting for. The follow-up guide explores this in more detail.

8. Learn from both yes and no

Examine why requests are unsuitable or do not become customers. Wrong geography may need clearer ads. Wrong expectations may need better copy. Long waits may need a different workflow.

Define genuine leads, qualified opportunities and customers separately. Remove spam and duplicates before comparing periods. A higher qualification rate can be an improvement even if total form submissions fall.

First choose the action that addresses the clearest bottleneck. Assign responsibility and a review date, and use impact measurement to describe what actually changed.
